JB Planning Associates was established in 2002 by John Boyd and is now a leading consultancy in the development sector. The Practice is based in Hertfordshire, but our work covers many parts of the UK.
We have established a diverse client base with a variety of projects across the country including the successful promotion of strategic development opportunities and land allocations through Local Plans, the preparation and submission of major planning applications and appeals, and small and medium scale residential and mixed-use developments.

BA (Hons) Town Planning
John Boyd started his planning career at Hertfordshire County Council in the Structure Plan Team, working on strategic housing and leisure policies.
A more diverse work experience in both Development Management and Planning Policy has developed in the private sector involving participating in Local Plan Examinations in the promotion of large-scale strategic sites for development and major planning appeals and public inquiry work.
A substantial number of planning permissions have been secured through negotiation and the Company has an established track record of securing both permission and allocations.
Technical skills accrued include managing large multi-disciplinary project teams as Lead Consultant, extensive knowledge of the planning system, including public examinations as an expert planning witness and finally good negotiation skills to achieve added value to development projects.
