JB Planning Associates has successfully secured planning permission for the infilling of an existing under-utilised atrium to facilitate an additional 430 square metres of floorspace at the Headquarters of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) in Stevenage.
The additional floorspace will be created through the installation of a new roof structure to create a covered courtyard. This new area will used in association with the existing office use to create a new lobby / arrival space and flexible functional space for staff meetings, exhibitions, break-out, study and refreshments. As part of the application, JB Planning Associates also secured planning permission for replacement windows, doors and screens as well as the construction of a new external plant enclosure.
The permission helps support the IET’s substantial investment into the refurbishment of its premises, securing a long-term future in the town.
