JB Planning Associates organised and attended a public exhibition in Watchet, West Somerset, to share outline proposals for a mixed-use development at the former Wansbrough Paper Mill. The site is identified as brownfield land and as per the National Planning Policy Framework, sites such as these are encouraged for full and efficient redevelopment.
The public exhibition, held on 26th and 27th April 2019, showcased the initial proposals and the team were on hand to answer any questions put forward by the local community. The event was organised and led by JB Planning Associates, in collaboration with Wardell Armstrong and Cannon Consulting Engineers. Those attending were also invited to complete feedback forms providing their thoughts on the proposals with all comments received being fully considered. Some 425 people attended over the two days which was an excellent turn out.
Developers have a key role to play in engaging with the planning process, helping local communities understand what is proposed, listening to concerns and engaging in dialogue to seek to resolve these concerns. Time taken by a developer earlier in the process means important issues can be identified and addressed, leading to a smoother planning application process where the local community have had input.
