JB Planning Associates is committed to protecting your privacy and security. This policy explains how and why we use your personal data to ensure you remain informed and in control of your information.

The General Data Protection Regulation was introduced as a new approach which relies on you giving us your consent about how we can contact you. This means you have the choice as to how you want to receive communications from us (post, email, phone).

We will never sell your personal data and will only ever share it with organisations we work with where it is necessary to progress your project.

About Us

We are a Planning Consultancy involved in the development industry in securing planning permissions and the allocation of land for new development. If you are a Client your personal data (i.e. any information which identifies you, or which can be identified as relating to you personally) will be held and used by JB Planning Associates Limited (registered no. 4531412) for the purposes of progressing your project.

What Information We Collect

Personal Data – we collect information you provide to us in connection with general enquiries and projects which you may instruct us on. This may include your contact details, details of the project, including background information, maps and notes of meetings and information about land ownership.

Information created by your involvement with JB Planning Associates – your activities and involvement with JB Planning Associates will result in data being created in order for us to progress projects which you instruct us on. This will include communications with other companies, consultants, the legal profession, councils etc in relation to your project.

How We Use Information

We will only use information available to us with your consent or where it is necessary in order to:-

  • Enter into or perform a contract with you as part of an instruction to undertake work on your behalf;
  • Comply with a legal duty;
  • Protect your vital interests;

For our own (or a third parties) lawful interests, provided your rights do not override these.

We will only use your information for the purpose or purposes it was collected for (or for closely related purposes).

How We Use Cookies

If we are instructed by you, we will use your data for administrative purposes including keeping your project file up to date and performing our obligations in accordance with the law and our instructions provided by you.

Disclosing and Sharing Information

We will never sell your personal data, however, we may share your personal data with other consultants, councils etc in the interests of progressing your project. We may from time to time use details of your project as case studies on our website as a demonstration of our skill base but will not disclose any personal details in doing so.

How We Protect Data

We use a variety of physical and technical measures to keep your data safe and to prevent unauthorized access to, or use or disclosure of your personal information. Electronic data and databases are stored on a secure computer system and we control who has access to information.


JB Planning Associates are based and store information only in the UK. We will only use and store information for so long as it is required for business purposes. When information relating to a project is archived we hold this information in a secure storage facility for a period of no more than 7 years and then destroy it securely.

Keeping You In Control

We ensure that you remain in control of your personal data and part of this relates to your legal rights which includes: –

  • The right to confirmation as to whether we have your personal data and to obtain a copy of the personal information we hold (known as a subject access request);
  • The right to have your data erased (though this will not apply where it is necessary for us to continue to use the data for lawful reasons);
  • The right to have inaccurate data rectified;
  • The right to object to your data being used for marketing or profiling and;

Where technically feasible, you have the right to personal data you have provided us which we process automatically on the basis of your content. This information will be provided in common electronic format.

There are exceptions to the rights above and, though we will always try to respond to your satisfaction, there may be situations where we are unable to do so.
